Summer Time Trips Operate Daily May 22 - September 30

Hourly & Half Day Rides
Riders depart for each hourly ride on horseback from the store at Tererro. (map) The 1 and 2 hour rides leave as reserved on the hour and each half-day ride at 9am and 1 pm.

"The Golf Course Ride" is an hour-long ride on Santa Fe National Forest land and is ideal for the beginner rider. This ride follows a smooth trail that makes an easy leisurely loop through what once was a golf course during the mining era of the 1930's. The terrain has small elevation changes in and out of the trees followed by large meadows. Riders often see deer, coyotes, red-tailed falcons and various wildflowers in bloom.

"The Davis Canyon Ride" is a two-hour private ride suited to both the adventurous beginner rider and intermediate riders alike. This ride is more adventurous than the one-hour ride and follows a continuously ascending and descending mountainous trail along the rim of Davis Canyon. There are many scenic overlooks and opportunities to view wildlife in its natural habitat.

"The Aspen Grove Ride" commonly referred to as the half-day ride, is a 3 to 4 hour ride similar to its shorter 2 hour contemporary in that it follows parts of the Davis Canyon. However, this trail is a more challenging ride which climbs further up into the Santa Fe National Forest and at its highest point winds through a large old aspen grove. At this point riders dismount and take a short break before beginning their return trip. This area is a favorite for picnicking. Riders are advised to bring a small snack and a drink on this ride.

On any ride it is a good idea to bring a camera, sun block, hat, light jacket, and a raincoat. Proper riding attire required (long pants, and no open toed shoes).

Each person rides his or her own horse, and the minimum riding age is 6 years old.
